Spanish tapas at La Farola in the heart of Islington, a small and cosy venue with a lively atmosphere and very friendly staff.
The cheese and wine selection are the stars of the restaurant. The cheese board we ordered was delicious, perfect amounts of melt in the mouth cheese to share with quince jelly, savoury biscuits and a side of bread - infused with a lovely smoked flavour after being char grilled while cooking meats (I could eat a whole loaf on my own!)
I tried a few tapas selections – the croquettes held a nice flavour, but unfortunately the taste of being pre made and refrigerated for a couple of days was evident and the pork belly lacked the crispy and salty crackling one fantasizing about when ordering pork belly. However the mini burgers were really nice and juicy with good quality cheese and bun.
Recommended by the server we tried the Tarta Comadre for dessert, which was quite nice with a cinnamon, custard and biscuit flavour combination.
Overall, a 6/10. Visit La Farola on a quite Sunday afternoon for a glass of wine and a mouth-watering cheese and meat board with some of my favourite char grilled bread – Perfecto!
