As a guest of AMPR Media I attended the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival week and what a fabulous event it was! Kicking off the festival was the opening Gala Runway on March 5th presented by David Jones and Vogue Australia. TV personalities, celebrities and designers gathered at the stunning heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building to see the largest designer line up and collection from David Jones which would set the tone for this seasons styles and trends.
With a solid front row of fashionistas and influencers including Nadia Bartel and Vydia Rishie, this was not your average fashion show. Shortly after taking our seats we were serenaded by the beautiful vocals of Vera Blue. The stunning Jessica Gomes and Montana Cox took the lead, showcasing some of my favourite designers including Manning Cartell, Camilla and Marc, Thurley and Ellery.
The stand out for me was Thurley; feminine, floral designs with delicate layered fabric, I wanted to steal every look straight off the runway! Bassike presented their usual clean and simplistic high end style to the runway while Jac & Jack brought new life to neutrals. Carla Zampatti unveiled suit-like dresses and bold power suits featuring pinstripes.
Myself and my wardrobe bursting with uber colourful pieces are happy to report the major trend of 2018 - bold and bright colours! Along with power suits, plaid and sportswear; The P.E Nation collection of street style sportswear had me yass-ing all the way through!
It was a flawless evening of leading trends from Australia's top designers, best part of all you can buy the looks on Shop The Runway right here!
